Welcome to the Coupe Coop, Home of the AMC Matador Coupe!

Last updated 3/2/2002

Hi! Welcome to the Coupe Coop, the most complete resource for the AMC Matador Coupe on the web. I have totally revamped the layout of this site as of November 14, 2001. If you are a new visitor, welcome! This is my new domain - MATADORCOUPE.COM, online April 20, 2001, and continuing to grow. The original site was started on Geocities in September, 1999.

This site has two purposes:

  • To provide information and source material to current and future Matador Coupe owners regarding maintenance and restoration; and
  • To gather and share historical information regarding the development and production of the AMC Matador Coupe.
To this end, I have included features such as literature from AMC and the general media; parts sources; technical information; pictures of factory and modified Coupes; and a Registry Form for Coupe owners to fill out to help provide a historical database of Matador Coupes. The information on this form is shared in the Registry List, providing valuable historical information and a glimpse at those Coupes still on the road.

Another important part of this site is the listing of Parts for Sale, Cars / Parts Wanted, Cars for sale, and the NEW AMC Vendor Listing. I want to keep good cars and parts from being needlessly discarded, and provide links to AMC resources. These are free listings I provide as a service to enthusiasts.

As always, I want to say THANKS to everyone who has registered their Matador Coupe, submitted a classified ad, or sent me a picture or a document scan. The response has been extremely satisfying, and much larger than I had anticipated!

Keep checking back to this site often, since I will be updating it regularly! Hey, and while you're at it, why don't you bookmark this site before you forget!

Bill Dettman was kind enough to send information and pictures of his 1974 Matador Coupe restoration - a car very similar to the Coupe he had owned until 1989.

You can also read Kelly Schoof's Part 1, which I posted in November, and Kelly Schoof's Part 2, posted in December/January. He has some interesting stories to tell, and has made some interesting modifications to his Matador. You can view pictures of Kelly's beautiful blue custom Coupe HERE.

It's true, I do think of other things besides my cars. Check out this site which features some of the stuff I do at home, including the treehouse page, projects, and other trivial miscellany.
