Dave requested my plans for the loft beds I have made and kindly sent in pictures of his completed project. His version is in an "L" shape, which is a very interesting variation on my original plans! It just shows what is possible with a little creativity and ingenuity.

We finished the beds the day after Thanksgiving. We did manage to connect the two beds and for the "L" shape that I had described. We used four large carriage bolts counter sunk as our main support. Can only say that measuring exactly several times is the key to these beds. It is a very snug fit at the connection point. All went well with the beds. Only suggestion may be, that the ends of the boards that are attached to the wall should be drilled prior to installation on the wall (where the ends connect together). We took time to sand and paint each piece before installation.
