JACK'S LOFT BED PROJECT

Jack is one of the 40+ people who have requested my plans for the loft beds I have made. He has the distinction of being the first to actually send me pictures of his completed project. His letter and pictures are posted below. Hopefully this will inspire some others to send in pictures of their project!

Craig:

Thanks for the plans. Everything worked out fine. I ended up adding an additional vertical stringer on the wall to anchor some steps at the foot of the bed. This was in lieu of building a ladder, and it served to secure the corner 4x4 without a pin or stud on the bottom into the floor. I also chose to use a sheet of plywood for the bed bottom rather than slats. By screwing this to the bed rails, it further strengthened the corners. I painted the plywood bottom to add some reflective light to my 9 year old step daughter's "office area". She is delighted with the bed, and it gave us some much needed space in her room! I have always been a lot better mechanic than carpenter. I have usually stayed away from woodworking projects, but some minor success with the bed has gotten me interested in trying something else. I'm looking to do some space saving and storage projects in my garage. Now that I have a circular saw, things will be a lot easier to do !

Thanks again,

Jack
